Gemini for Business: Workspace, Gemini Enterprise and What Each Costs (2026)

Gemini for business means one of three things from Google: Gemini included in a Google Workspace plan (from $7 per user a month), Gemini Enterprise Business edition (from $21 per seat a month, for teams up to 300), or a personal Google AI plan used for work. Workspace is the usual starting point for small businesses.
This guide explains each option, what it costs as of October 2026, what Google says about your data on each, and what changed on October 20, 2026, when Google added a business hub to the Gemini app. Every price and quote comes from Google's own pricing and help pages, read on October 26, 2026. We did not run these products.
Gemini for business options compared (as of October 2026)
| Option | What you get | Published price | Who it suits |

| Google Workspace Business Standard | Everything in Starter plus Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Meet and more, and 2 TB pooled storage per user | $14 per user/month annual, $16.80 flexible | Teams that want AI inside their email and documents |
| Google Workspace Business Plus | Everything in Standard plus Vault, advanced endpoint management and 5 TB per user | $22 per user/month annual, $26.40 flexible | Teams with retention or device-control needs |
| Gemini Enterprise Business edition | Gemini agent platform with connectors to Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, HubSpot, Jira and more, prebuilt agents and a no-code Workflow Builder | Starting at $21 per seat/month, up to 300 seats | Teams that work across Google and non-Google apps |
| Gemini Enterprise Standard and Plus | Business edition plus higher usage limits, your own or third-party agents, and advanced security controls | Starting at $30 per seat/month, unlimited seats | Larger organizations with IT and compliance teams |
| Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra (personal) | Higher Gemini usage, Gemini in Google apps and storage on a personal Google Account | $4.99, $19.99, or from $99.99 a month | Individuals. Not a business plan |
Google's Business editions of Workspace can be bought for a maximum of 300 users, according to its pricing page. Google says Annual/Fixed-Term Plans are billed annually or monthly depending on your region, subscription type and how you signed up. The Gemini Enterprise prices are listed as "Starting at" on Google's subscriptions page, which does not show an annual or monthly split.
Option 1: Gemini inside Google Workspace
If your business email already runs on Google Workspace, you probably have some Gemini access today. Google's help page for the Business editions lists the Gemini app among the services in Business Starter: "Chat with Gemini to get quick answers, kickstart research and brainstorm new ideas." Business Standard adds "Access to the Gemini AI assistant in Gmail, Docs, Meet, and more" and an AI research assistant.
What that looks like day to day, based on Google's own feature descriptions on its Workspace AI page:
- Gmail: "Summarize threads, find key details, and draft professional emails."
- Meet: "Let AI take notes so you can focus on the conversation."
- Gemini Notebook: an AI research assistant "included in Google Workspace plans" that is grounded in the documents you upload.
- Docs, Sheets, Slides, Vids, Drive and Chat: Google's pricing page lists Gemini in each of these apps.
For heavier use, Google sells an add-on called AI Expanded Access, which it describes as "higher access to advanced AI capabilities in Workspace", including advanced image and video generation and real-time speech translation. Google's help page compares its usage limits with the standard editions but did not show a price for it when we read it.
Who it suits: most small businesses. If you are choosing between Starter and Standard, the difference that matters for AI is whether you want Gemini inside Gmail and Docs (Standard) or only the separate Gemini app (Starter). Our guide to AI email assistants compares Gemini in Gmail with other inbox tools, and our guide to the best AI meeting assistant options covers note takers if Meet is not your main video tool.
Option 2: Gemini Enterprise Business edition
Google's Cloud page for this product is titled "Gemini for Business", and it was the first organic result in Google for that phrase when we searched on October 26, 2026. Google describes Gemini as "one universal agent for the way you work" that operates "across your email, docs, code, data, and business apps."
The Business edition, according to Google's product and subscription pages:
- Price: starting at $21 per seat per month, up to 300 seats.
- Connectors: "Connect to common business apps like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Jira, GitHub, HubSpot, Slack, and more."
- Agents: a prebuilt Deep Research agent, Canvas for co-editing documents and slides inside the chat, and a no-code Workflow Builder for custom agents.
- Gemini Notebook: shared, source-grounded notebooks built from "up to 300 internal documents."
- Storage: 25 GiB storage and data indexing per seat, pooled.
- Admin: admins control which connectors team members can use, chat sharing and billing.
- Trial: Google offers the Business edition "at no cost for 30 days" and describes it as "Great for individuals, small businesses, and teams up to 300" with no IT setup needed. Google's help page notes you may see a temporary authorization hold on your card, or be asked for a refundable prepayment.
Google's Workspace add-ons page lists Gemini Enterprise Business edition as an add-on you can buy on top of a Workspace edition, so it does not replace your email.
Standard and Plus editions start at $30 per seat per month, with higher usage limits, the option to bring your own agents built with Google's Agent Development Kit or third-party agents, security controls such as VPC-SC and customer-managed encryption keys, and unlimited seats.
Who it suits: a business whose files and customers live in more than one place, for example Microsoft 365 email plus HubSpot plus Slack, and that wants Gemini to work across them. If everything already lives in Google Workspace, start with Option 1. For more on what AI agents can do in a small business, see our guide to AI agents for business.
Option 3: personal Google AI plans
Google AI Plus ($4.99 a month), Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month) and Google AI Ultra (from $99.99 a month) are personal subscriptions on a Google Account. Plus and Pro add Gemini in Google apps such as Gmail, plus more usage and storage: 400 GB on Plus, 5 TB on Pro.
They are not business plans, and the data terms are different (next section). A sole trader who works from a personal Gmail address may find Google AI Pro enough. Anyone handling client information should look at Options 1 and 2 first.
What Google says about your data
The data rules are the biggest practical difference between a work account and a personal one.
- Workspace. Google's Generative AI in Google Workspace Privacy Hub says "Your content is not human reviewed or otherwise used for Generative AI model training outside your domain without permission." It adds that Workspace "does not use customer data for training models without customer's prior permission or instruction", a commitment Google says is set out in the Training Restriction section of its Workspace Service Specific Terms. The same hub says the Gemini app "is now a core Workspace service for most Google Workplace editions", covered by your organization's Workspace agreement.
- Gemini Enterprise. Google's subscriptions page says your data, including prompts and outputs, is not used to train Google models or models for any other customer, and that Google "never sells customer data to third parties."
- Personal Gemini Apps. Google's Gemini Apps Privacy Hub says "A subset of chats are reviewed by human reviewers (including Google's trained service providers) to help improve Google services," and asks users not to enter confidential information they "wouldn't want a reviewer to see." Turning off the Keep Activity setting stops future chats from being reviewed to improve Google services, and temporary chats are not used to improve Google AI with help from human reviewers. Chats already reviewed are kept for up to three years even if you delete your activity.
Google's Workspace AI page also says Gemini "only retrieves relevant content in Workspace that the user has access to" and that admins can restrict Gemini's access to sensitive data with data loss prevention controls. It says Gemini "can help meet HIPAA compliance", which is not the same as making your setup compliant: that depends on your agreement with Google and how you configure it.
New on October 20, 2026: a business hub in the Gemini app
On October 20, 2026, Google announced "a new business landing page" in the Gemini app, a central hub where owners "can build their brand, analyze finances, understand customer insights, and more." According to the announcement:
- Connected apps: Gemini can connect to Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace, and to "third-party connected apps like Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho, and Xero."
- Brand style: you can upload a website, brand kit, fonts or color palettes, and Gemini keeps that style for later image requests, using its Nano Banana 2.1 image model.
- Finances: Gemini "can turn messy spreadsheets, receipts, and purchase records into clear financial graphics and interactive models."
- Rollout: the landing page, marketing and finance skills and new connected apps "are beginning to roll out in the coming days globally for all Gemini app users."
Google says "Tens of millions of small business owners are using Gemini today." The announcement does not say which of these features depend on a paid plan, or whether they behave differently on a Workspace account, so check inside your own account before planning around them. If you connect accounting data such as Xero, our guide to AI accounting software covers the AI built into the accounting apps themselves.
What it costs a five-person team
Our own sums from Google's list prices, as of October 2026, before tax.
| Setup | Cost per month | How we got there |
|---|---|---|
| Workspace Business Starter, Gemini app only | $35 annual, $42 flexible | 5 x $7, or 5 x $8.40 |
| Workspace Business Standard, Gemini in Gmail and Docs | $70 annual, $84 flexible | 5 x $14, or 5 x $16.80 |
| Business Standard plus Gemini Enterprise Business edition | $175 | 5 x $14 + 5 x $21 |
| Gemini Enterprise Business edition only (email elsewhere) | $105 | 5 x $21 |
For comparison, the Claude Team plan is $20 per seat a month billed annually or $25 billed monthly, for teams of 2 to 150, according to Anthropic's pricing page. Our Claude vs Gemini comparison sets the two companies' plans side by side.
How to choose
- Check what you already pay for. If you are on Workspace Business Starter or above, you already have the Gemini app under your Workspace terms. Open it with your work account before buying anything.
- Want AI in your inbox and documents? Use Business Standard. That is the lowest Business edition where Google lists Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Meet.
- Work across Microsoft 365, HubSpot or Slack? Trial Gemini Enterprise Business edition. Its connectors are the reason to pay the extra $21 a seat. Use the 30-day trial on one real workflow.
- Keep client data off personal accounts. Google's own privacy pages show different review and training terms for personal Gemini use and for Workspace or Enterprise accounts.
- Compare before you commit to a year. Annual/Fixed-Term Plans cost less per user, but Google's billing help says you can only reduce licenses at renewal. If you are still choosing between assistants, our guides to Claude for small business and ChatGPT for small business cover the alternatives, and our list of the best AI tools for small business covers the wider stack.
What we could not verify
- AI Expanded Access pricing. Google's help page describes the add-on and its limits but did not show a price when we read it.
- Gemini Enterprise billing terms. Google's pages list a "Starting at" price per seat per month without saying whether it requires an annual commitment.
- The new business hub. Google's announcement does not say which features need a paid plan or a Workspace account, and it says the rollout happens "in the coming days." We could not see it in an account.
- Seat limits. Google's subscriptions page lists the Business edition at up to 300 seats, while the edition comparison table in its Cloud documentation lists 1 to 500 users. Check with Google if your team is near that size.
- Usage limits. Google describes limits as multiples ("2x higher usage limits than Free") or per-feature quotas that change by edition, not as one fixed number.
- Quality. We did not run Gemini on any task for this page, and we make no claim about how well it writes or reasons compared with other assistants.
FAQ
Is Gemini free for business?
Partly. Google lists the Gemini app as part of Google Workspace Business Starter, which costs $7 per user a month on an annual plan as of October 2026, so Gemini comes with the subscription rather than costing extra. There is also a free personal Gemini plan, but it runs under personal data terms, where some chats can be reviewed by humans. Gemini Enterprise Business edition offers a 30-day free trial.
How much is Gemini for business?
As of October 2026, Google lists Workspace Business Starter at $7, Business Standard at $14 and Business Plus at $22 per user a month on annual plans ($8.40, $16.80 and $26.40 on the Flexible Plan). Gemini Enterprise starts at $21 per seat a month for the Business edition and $30 for Standard and Plus.
What is the difference between Gemini Enterprise and Gemini in Workspace?
Gemini in Workspace is AI inside Google's own apps, such as Gmail, Docs and Meet, included in Business editions. Gemini Enterprise is a separate agent platform that connects to business apps beyond Google, such as Microsoft 365, HubSpot, Jira and Slack, and adds prebuilt agents and a no-code Workflow Builder. Google sells it as an add-on to Workspace or on its own.
Does Google train Gemini on my business data?
For Workspace, Google's privacy hub says your content is not human reviewed or used for model training outside your domain without permission. For Gemini Enterprise, Google says prompts and outputs are not used to train Google models. Personal Gemini accounts are different: Google says a subset of chats are reviewed by humans to improve its services unless you turn off Keep Activity.
Can I use Gemini for business with a Gmail address?
Google's help page says any Business edition of Workspace can be used with a business email address or a Gmail address, though some features need a verified domain. Google also says Gemini Enterprise Business edition is suited to "individuals, small businesses, and teams up to 300."
Is ChatGPT or Gemini better for business?
It depends on where your work lives. If your team already uses Gmail, Docs and Meet, Gemini sits inside those apps under your Workspace terms. If you do not use Google's apps, compare business plans side by side, including data terms and admin controls, and run the same real task on each before committing.
